My final collection inspiration came from the dandelion in all it’s forms. I wanted to illustrate the dandelion in a positive form. I love the term used “some see a weed, some see a wish” when they look at a dandelion. I want to grasp the beauty that some people give a sense of invisible hope to the dandelion when making a wish. The childish innocence behind the concept is applicable to everyone. As when all else goes wrong you need to always have hope , hope that things get better. The innocence, playfulness and purity from this concept is the driving force behind my collection. I will be using machine embroidery, mixed textile dyeing and print to illustrate the “imperfect” plant that has inspired me in many ways.

my name is Shannon- shannon_j.artist. I’m a 25 year old textile artist. My original degree is contemporary art but design is where my true passion lies . My final year project is inspired by horses, specifically their eyes and the emotion the convey through it. I want to capture their feeling by using different textile techniques, but mainly variations of print and dying.

The work I have created for my final year collection have been inspired by my photography of the sky. The photos were taken at different times during the day over a period of weeks. My main body of research contains mark-making, collage, and painting, which are reflected through my silhouette designs and textile samples. I focused on the texture of the clouds in the photos in particular in addition to the soft shapes they create. I also was inspired by the concept of what the opposite of these features could be, like geometric shapes and rough textures, I was intrigued about the contrast between these ideas and how they would combine. I applied these concepts through layering, fabric manipulation, print, and embroidery.

My final year project is based around the theme of rust and age and decay. I want to portray this through a different light to show the beauty and delicateness of life. I am doing this through my use of colours in natural dyeing, creating textures and depth and really brining energy and life into my collection. 🌸 

Ny name is Gemma O’ Grady. My final year is called “Oneness”. It is a deep dive into the exploration of Mars and its amazing landscape. My designs are created with an ethereal feel with a contemporary edge. In my final designs I have incorporated sustainable woven fabrics like Pinatex, indigo denim and Shibori dyeing. I am exploring traditional Shibori dyeing with a mix of fabric manipulations while highlighting my designs with crystal embroidery accessories.

Hi, I’m Aoife! I’m 21 and come from Glencolmcille In Co. Donegal. My Final Year Project looks at the structures and textures of the protective layers within nature, with my research focused primarily on skin and bark. I’ve extracted the colours and intricate details of each and have combined them through textile applications, such as Print and Embroidery. The Fashion Collection which I’ve named “The Connection Between Us”, uses lightweight fabrics and gentle fabric manipulation, which displays a delicate and sophisticated tone and feel.
