Marian Ebbs

Graphic Design and Illustration / July 16, 2021 by mindcauldron-admin

The pieces I’ve chosen to exhibit are my favourite works from the last four years. Each piece conveys a message that I’m passionate about – the environment, women’s rights, and animal welfare. I find that projects containing a message that’s important to me are the ones I enjoy the most and finding a way to express those messages through my work is why I love design. I used different styles and methods of expressions in every project because that’s what I felt would communicate the best with the intended audience. I tend to lean towards a more minimalistic style because that’s what I find resonates best with me and so I try to emulate designs and projects that I’ve connected with.

The Shape of the Future by Marian Ebbs (2D – Poster, A2) This project was about creating a poster to represent “The Shape of the Future” using only geometric shapes without text. I decided to show the fate of the planet if global warming isn’t tackled, using just triangles and three colours and a lot of white space. I wanted to keep the poster as minimal as possible while still conveying a clear message.
Women’s Rights by Marian Ebbs (2D – Poster, A2) This is an infographic poster I designed on the topic of women’s rights. I put a lot of research into this project in order to select the information I felt was the most relevant, and then spent some time deciding how to display the information. I decided I wanted to make it pink and cute, to use a stereotype to contrast with the serious topic.
Dogs Aren’t Toys by Marian Ebbs (2D – Poster, A3) Over the past century, the practice dog breeding has become extreme and is often detrimental to the dog, resulting in breeds suffering from the same health problems generation after generation. Purebred dogs with the same health issues continue to be bred together for the sake of maintaining the appearance of the dog. I chose to reflect this issue in a game to demonstrate the fickle, irreverent nature of the breeding industry.
