Artist Statement
The feel of a weighty chisel in my hand as I carve plaster on a whirring lathe, takes me on a playful creative journey. I am a maker, a maker of ceramic objects.
My current practice focuses on making simple forms and creating a calm, quiet aesthetic.
Our world is fast-paced, full of noise, distraction, and unrest. In particular these past 18 months have been difficult and overwhelming for us all. I feel drawn to find moments of stillness and calm to escape this constant movement. My work aims to capture these still moments, in an effort to preserve what is precious.
I work predominantly with porcelain clay and endeavor to celebrate its pureness, luminosity and translucency.
