HUMANS BEING HUMAN BEINGS
I am a visual artist living between Galway and Inis Mor .
My work is collection of approx. 60 water-based media paintings on square canvas ranging from 6 inch to 5 feet. Each piece is an improvisation of chance to allow what will emerge
The works are an ebb and flow process working with a selection at a time and often worked outdoors in wind and rain to allow the natural elements to manipulate the mark making.
By observing the squares as they dry by wind or firelight, the humans reveal themselves and I work them outwards as I begin to see them. Pareidolia is present as before, but I seek it out now in the inky wet surface.
They are Influenced by the human condition and my observations, thoughts and interactions with fellow humans as well as the past, particularly my mother’s story in the catholic institutional system.
Noticing what I notice allows a sense of seeing stuff around me. Humans being human beings intrigues me especially as we post covid connect.
