I’m an eastern European immigrant who has lived in Ireland for more than half my life, during the last four years in Ireland, this Contemporary Art course has changed who I am and led me to discover myself. I thrived in macabre subject matter and self-expression; I utilised pain to decorate blank canvases for onlookers to digest. Reading books that explore the bleaker sides of humanity like illness and censorship expanded my mind and encouraged me to create. I discovered oil paint and became enchanted with the rituals of mixing, smearing, scraping, and staining. My lecturers have been essential in leading me the right way in my work, with constant artist recommendations and research. I was never lacking in inspiration. My biggest wish is to have onlookers enjoy the hours I have put into my work; nothing would make me happier than that.
